In the Contamines-Montjoie valley, in Haute Savoie, snow groomers have little by little replaced the hay wagons. Within half a century, the winter tourist industry has transformed the life of the inhabitants; now that the white gold mine is wearing out, feelings are contradictory, and something like bitterness is beginning to be acknowledged.
How can we view the invisible ties that link men to their land? “Miage”, a documentary-opera, with the presence of a string quartet and a band of Alphorns, illustrates this attachment. This ecological fable is accompanied by music to draw an original portrait of a highland territory undergoing deep change.
